Nominations for BASC Council elections now open

Nominations are now sought for two Council seats coming up for election in 2022.

Now is the time to step off the sidelines and stand for one of the most fulfilling roles in the sector.

BASC Council chairman Eoghan Cameron said: “Council is the board and strategic decision-making fulcrum of BASC. It is charged with setting strategy and policy, while operational execution is delegated to the Chief Executive. Ultimate responsibility for the direction and sound running of the Association resides with Council. At a time when shooting and the inextricable conservation benefits face threats on multiple fronts, Council is a hot, fast-paced kitchen for cool, strategic heads.”

Regardless of background or length of membership, the Council needs motivated and capable people. Your skills and experience may make you the ideal candidate.

Prospective Council members must be ready to:

• develop and own BASC’s strategy;
• hold BASC to account for delivering against the strategy;
• ensure resources and policies align to enable BASC to execute strategy effectively;
• exercise clear challenge, judgement and accept real responsibility;
• make tough but impactful decisions critical to the future of shooting and conservation, and;
• demonstrate integrity and teamwork, always.

Nominations for election must be made formally in writing and submitted to the chief executive before the close of business on Friday 31 December 2021. They must be signed by the candidate, a proposer and a seconder, who must all be members of the association and entitled to vote.

Motions for debate

Motions for debate at the Annual General Meeting in 2022 must also be submitted in writing to the chief executive and received by Friday 31 December 2021. Motions must be signed by a proposer and a seconder, who must both be members of BASC with voting rights.
