These courses are designed to equip the candidate with the knowledge and skills required to undertake basic rifle, air rifle or shotgun shooting. They are ideal for beginners or novices wishing to improve their abilities.
This one-day course will provide novice or less experienced shooters with a sturdy foundation of knowledge to improve their basic rifle shooting.
Safety issues will be covered in a classroom before practical instruction on the range covering shooting positions and rifle techniques.
You will have plenty of time on the range using both .22 rim-fire and centre-fire rifles.
You do not need to have a Firearms Certificate or your own rifle, as rifles and ammunition will be provided.
This course is reserved for BASC members only.

This one-day course will provide the novice or less experienced air rifle shooters with a sturdy foundation of knowledge.
Safety, law and technique will be covered in the classroom before practical instruction on the range covering shooting positions and air rifle techniques.
There will be plenty of time on the range for shooting both spring and precharged air rifles.
You do not need to own an air rifle as they will be provided along with ammunition. You may use your own air rifle, however, please also bring your current FAC if it is an FAC-rated air rifle.

This one-day course will provide the novice or less experienced shotgun shooters with a sturdy foundation of knowledge to improve their shooting abilities.
Safety, law and technique will be covered in the classroom before practical instruction at a clay ground including stance, eye dominance and shooting technique.
There will be plenty of time on the clay ground for shooting a variety of shotgun types.
You do not have to have a shotgun, as these will be provided. If you have your own gun and want to use it, please also bring your current shotgun certificate.

Should there be insufficient bookings, BASC reserves the right to cancel the course. In the interests of fairness, BASC will aim to provide candidates with notification of cancellation as soon as possible prior to the advertised start date.
We strongly recommend that fees for any accommodation you book are refundable as BASC will not be responsible for any losses incurred by candidates.
If for any reason you cancel your place on the course then the following scale of charges may apply:
