Firearms Firearms Courses Basic metallic cartridge reloading – Northern IrelandÂ
This course has been developed to equip the candidate with the knowledge and skills required to undertake basic metallic cartridge reloading and is an ideal introduction to reloading.
The two-day course will provide the novice or less experienced home loader with a sturdy foundation of knowledge.
On the first day, candidates will learn about safety and reloading law, and they will perfect their technique in the classroom.
They will learn about the practical aspects of reloading rifle cartridges and gain insight into the basic equipment required to produce safe reloads.

The course also covers brass inspection and preparation, priming methods, powder charging, bullet seating and how to safely disassemble home loads, when required. The candidates will also learn how to recognise pressure signs in home-loaded ammunition.
On day two, candidates will test their loads on the range in a safe and controlled environment, where they can get the most from their equipment by developing the optimum load for their rifles.
Ammunition will be checked on a chronograph, allowing the user to develop drop charts and ballistic data. This will prove useful in both hunting and target shooting.
BASC members: £125Â
Non-members: £155Â
Upon registering you will be required to complete a checklist of equipment you currently have or are planning to acquire prior to the course, and what you will be able to bring to the course.
This will enable the trainer to ensure he has the equipment to cover any shortfalls. Please be aware that there may be occasions when BASC will not be able to cover the shortfalls.
You must have a firearms certificate, your own rifle, and some reloading equipment.
Should there be insufficient bookings, BASC reserves the right to cancel the course. In the interests of fairness, BASC will aim to provide candidates with notification of cancellation as soon as possible prior to the advertised start date.
We strongly recommend that fees for any accommodation you book are refundable as BASC will not be responsible for any losses incurred by candidates.
If for any reason you cancel your place on the course then the following scale of charges may apply:
