BASC Scotland has praised the establishment of a new fund to assist land-based workers looking to gain or enhance their practical skillset.
Applicants can claim for upwards of £500 towards the cost of various practical and technical courses. Courses include First Aid training, and the safe use of chainsaws and ATVs.
The Scottish Government’s £250,000 pot falls under the name of the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaption Practical Training Fund is. The fund is being administered by Lantra and delivered through the Skillseeder platform. Applications close at the end of March.
Colin Shedden, BASC Scotland director, said: “This is a great opportunity for land-based workers to upskill and broaden their opportunities.
“It is hoped this fund will help both newcomers and those already established in the sector. Many of the courses will be of interest to BASC members.”
